Repiping - Domestic Water System Replacement
Water Clarity Plumbing uses only high-quality American-made materials which guarantee a lifetime of usability and durability. We offer a warranty on all our domestic piping replacements for quality and workmanship defects.
• Why Should I Repipe My Home?
There are many reasons why someone should repipe their home. The most important of which are:
Leaking water causes higher water bills - damage to your home - and formation of the "Black Mold" fungus
*** Warning: "Black Mold" fungus has recently been detected in the Almaden Valley area of San Jose. This mold is hazardous and has been found to be potentially fatal to young children ***
• What Kind Of Materials Do We Use?
Water Clarity Plumbing uses only American-made materials - manufactured and assembled in the U.S. Our piping is type (L), commercial grade copper. There are thinner and thicker grades of piping available, however we feel that this is the best pipe for your home.
All fittings are U.S. made copper or brass.
Ball valves will be installed where gate valve shut-offs are being used - as in water heaters, water mains, water softeners, and irrigation isolation valves. They operate on a quarter turn. These will last for many years as they are made of brass and stainless steel.
To sweat the copper pipes together, our solder is lead-free and comprised of 95% tin and 5% alloys.
• How Do We Gain Access To Your Existing Pipes?
Water Clarity Plumbing employs its own sheetrock and stucco repair crew. We will cut all walls where necessary to gain access to areas of piping - i.e. under cabinets, rear of water heaters, shower valves, etc. - unless otherwise noted. Upon completion of pipe installation and inspection by city inspectors, the sheetrock and stucco will be replaced to a textured surface, unless texture is a painting process. Painting and wallpaper repairs are to be performed by others.
• About The Piping System
Unless otherwise noted on the estimate sheet, all domestic piping will be replaced from where the water main enters the home to all fixtures. If it is of galvanized steel, Water Clarity Plumbing suggests that the water main also be replaced from the meter to the house. Water Clarity Plumbing will hand-dig all trenches and back fill to a finished grade. Shrubbery is excluded unless otherwise noted on the estimate. We suggest either Sch. 80 PVC plastic water mains. This guarantees a lifetime system.
All manifold piping below the floor is suspended by plastic isolator straps. As piping penetrates the floor plates, this is known as a riser. They too will be replaced in the same manner. Note: Pipe to wood contact, in the view of Water Clarity Plumbing, is considered to be less than good craftsmanship. Due to expansion and contraction of piping, if it comes into contact with wood, the new piping system will be noisy and often squeak. For this reason, the raisers and manifold will be suspended from the structure.
All shut-off valves - known as angle stops - which are located under each fixture, will be replaced with 1/4 turn chrome angle valves. All supply tubes that hook up to the fixtures from the angle stops will be replaced with braided stainless steel.
• Do I Need A Permit?
Because Water Clarity Plumbing will be repiping your entire home, it is not considered a "repair", and thus the city or county will require that a permit be issued. Water Clarity Plumbing will submit and include all permits in our estimates. This will ensure the highest quality of work. A representative of Water Clarity Plumbing will be present to stand the inspection once the piping has been completed.
• What If I Am Not Home During The Repiping?
As a licensed, bonded, and insured company, Water Clarity Plumbing does not require that the homeowner need to be home during the entire course of the repiping. Access in and out of the home is all that is required.
• What Is An "Instant Hot Water Recirculation System"? Do I Need It?
Hot water recirculation systems are available from Water Clarity Plumbing. These systems are a great amenity to your home. They supply hot water instantly throughout the home. In our systems, we utilize the Grunfos 1518SU pump and timer - which is attached to a fully insulated hot water system. This unit can be turned on and off by setting the timer to the style of your living conditions.
• What About Grounding The Pipes?
All bonding and grounding of the new systems will be performed by Water Clarity Plumbing as per city or county specifications.
• What Is The Warranty On My Repiping?
Water Clarity Plumbing warranties against installation and manufacturer defects for a 25 year limited warranty, or as long as you own your home. This warranty is on all domestic, copper water piping that we supply and install. A one-year warranty is given on all valves, pumps, and fixtures that we supply - materials and workmanship included.
